Edna’s Story
Meet Edna – the woman who stole Alex’s heart and keeps him on his toes!
Born in Kericho, Kenya, Edna made the big move to Minnesota at the age of five, trading sunshine for snow. She grew up in Champlin, MN, where she spent most of her childhood before heading to the University of Minnesota and later pursuing a career as a nurse.
Edna is the kind of person you can always count on—whether it’s showing up for the people she loves or turning an ordinary day into an adventure. She’s a master at trying new recipes (with Alex as her dedicated taste tester) and always planning the next travel adventure. With a smile that can light up a room and a heart even bigger than her love for potatoes, she makes life sweeter, funnier, and infinitely more exciting.
Alex’s Story
Meet Alex- the proud last born of six, born in Ghana and spent most of his early years in the lively town of Ashaiman—where he mastered the art of dodging chores and stealing extra servings of jollof. At 22, he packed his bags (and probably too many clothes) and moved to Minnesota to study Physiology, eventually becoming a Physician Assistant. Alex is known for his kindness, quick wit, and hardworking nature, but let’s be honest, he’s also the guy who will show up to a party and hide in the corner. He loves a good laugh, cherishes time with family, and is always up for deep conversations or completely pointless debates (because why not?). Whether he's caring for patients, cracking jokes, or proving why he's the favorite sibling (sorry, not sorry), Alex brings warmth and joy to every room he walks into
Our Story
We first crossed paths at work, where we’d smile and say “Hi” in the hallway without much more than that. Then one day, we teamed up to care for a patient—and realized we had a ton in common. Not only were we both physiology majors at the University of Minnesota, but like many African immigrants, we’d once considered med school before switching tracks. We became friendly acquaintances, and soon after, Alex moved to California for school. A year later, Edna also landed in California for a work assignment—right in the midst of COVID. We took the chance to hang out, explore the Bay Area, and before long, discovered how much we enjoyed each other’s company. One meet-up led to another, we decided to make it official, and the rest is history!
